This has now happened - this summer I lead my first workshop for youg composers! Together with my wonderful colleagues Gundega Šmite and Jānis Petraškevičs nine days went by helping six young composers from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to finish and rehearse new pieces.
On the 6. of august we heard six completely different, interesting and fresh chamber music pieces performed by Monta Martinsone (soprano), Mikus Abaroniņš (countertenor), Javier Hagen (contertenor), Ieva Neilande (recorders), Ulrike Meyer Spohn (recorders), Anna Gāgane (clarinet), Elīza Sestule (violoncello), Ieva Saliete (cembalo) and Edgars Vaivods (percussions).
I am utterly greatful for this experience - while helping my younger composer brothers and sisters I managed to learn so many things for myself as well.
